We’ve seen the emergence of a new god in the coronavirus era: toilet paper. Toilet paper has become a symbol of human desperation and the hardship faced by those who’ve lost so much during the pandemic. Displayed at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park and Panhandle in May 2020, “We’re out” reminded passersby of the grim reality in which we’ve found ourselves.
